Good day for the boys yesterday at the Yorkshire and Humberside senior men’s event. Micheal Wilson put up a spirited performance in what was his first competition. He was always on the front foot attempting to throw.
Oscar Mail improved on his first competition experience with a better performance. The sign of progress is he tried to add a little bit of defence to his attacking intent.
Oliver Brown attempted various attacking movements and came close to getting his first score in competitive Judo. His progress since his first competition was clear to see.
Nicholas demonstrated how much his technique is improving. He dispatched three of his opponents with uchimatas of a good technical level. The fourth opponent required some thoughtful mat craft before he beat him with ippon.
Scott’s performance demonstrated that even against senior men his judo was based on control and a good degree of composure. He finished fights both in tachiwaza and newaza. He continues to make good progress technicallly.
